A Day of Many Firsts...

Today was a day of many firsts for us! McKenzie had her very first end of the year party! She got a diploma and everything! It was a fun little party that her teachers had. They gave each one of the kids a blue bag with their name monogrammed on it and filled full of fun stuff to play with outside this summer. McKenzie is really going to miss her friends and sweet teachers over the summer.

When we got home today from school McKenzie said she needed to go potty. So, I rushed her to the bathroom and she pooped! I was so proud of her! She got four M&M's for that one! She has been doing really well for the most part with potty training but today was the first poop!

Then it was off to take a nap. MG did not want to nap today. I guess I got her too excited over pooping in the potty to get her to settle back down. I left her up in her crib for a while hoping she would nap, but she never did. All of a sudden her alarm went off. I went upstairs and sure enough...my worst nightmare had come true...she was STANDING on the other side of the door. YES, she had climbed out of her crib all by herself. She was so proud of herself for doing such, just smiling ear to ear! Baxter came into her room right after me and McKenzie told him she had a nice nap! I almost fell on the floor. I corrected her very quickly that she had NOT napped at all! Too funny!

After the NO nap afternoon, I decided that she might as well go swimming. So here she is with her new hat and cover up on! She looks so old!

After no nap today, MG was in an awful mood. Jason took her and Baxter for a walk while I got dinner ready. When they returned this is what I saw.

I carried her into the house and laid her on the couch. That was the first time she has ever slept on the couch. She never just gives up and goes to sleep. She would not have this time either if she did not fall asleep on the walk.
Jason got my attention and motioned for me to look at the couch. This is what we saw...Baxter had snuggled up with her on the couch all by himself. It was precious!

Is It Really That Easy?

Tuesday, McKenzie started to take interest in her little potty again. So, all day long we took her diaper on and off and she went in her potty! Yesterday, Jason and I went while she was in school and bought her some pull ups. We can't even believe that she is old enough for them. However, she loves them! I put one on her yesterday after school and she was dry the rest of the day, even through a 3 hour nap! I was so proud of her! Today we had a playdate and McKenzie told me that she wanted to take her potty to our playdate and wear a pull up instead of a diaper. She has kept it dry the entire day! I just can't believe that it was that easy! I was not even going to start this process until we were back from our trips at the end of June.

The funny part is though that MG gets two M&M's every time she goes in her potty. Last night when we put her to bed it was about 20 minutes and she started to scream that she needed to go potty. I ran upstairs and she sat and sat and sat on the potty, and nothing. She just thought I would give her M&M's for trying. However, she did not get them, so then she played that game two more times last night. I am not sure how to do nighttime potty training. If she really has to go then I want her to be able to go, but she has to understand that it is not a game. Any suggestions or ideas? Let me know! But, so far, so good! It has truly been a breeze! I am not getting rid of the diapers yet though!

McKenzie's 2 Year Pictures

In an earlier post I talked about getting McKenzie's two year pictures taken while Jason was in Dallas. Well, they are in! They are so good if I say so myself. We use the best photographer. She is so creative and seems to always capture McKenzie's personality. It is so much fun to look back over the last year at all her expressions and to see these pictures now. She is just so big and growing up so quickly. Below are her pictures from the photographer.

Where Could They Be?

McKenzie has been missing several toys for about a week now. I have looked through all her boxes and baskets in her playroom and I have not found any of them. So, I had the feeling that all the missing toys were together some where. Today I had the idea to look in the cabinet by the front door where she often times puts things and forgets about them.

Here is what I found...

All of her missing toys! I was so happy that I found them! McKenzie is so funny how she stashes things away for a later time to play with them. It is so much fun having a two year old!

MG's new pool

Over the weekend Jason blew up McKenzie's new pool. We have had this pool since she was baby! Jason has been so excited for her to be big enough to use it! This is the perfect year! It is really cool. It has a slide, basketball net, ring toss, and sprinklers all built in! You know how it starts, she woke up from her nap and I took her outside to see it. She wanted in right then. So in she went! After a little while her diaper was so full of water that she took it off herself! Then we put her swimsuit on! She loves her new pool! Great idea Daddy!

Third Sunday

Yesterday, was Third Sunday. Every year the third Sunday of May is homecoming at Jason's Granddaddy's family church. So every year we go. They have a singing first and then break for lunch and then sing some more after. It is also a time to decorate the graves of family members who have died. This year we had two new family members to remember, Grandmother (Jason's great-grandma) and Kathy (Sidda) (Jason's cousin). Below is our family picture from this year.

Fire Station #9

Saturday, our adult Life Group Class (Sunday School) took lunch to the fire station. It is part of our Love Loud project at church. Our class decided that firemen are a very wonderful service that do not get much recognition or appreciation. So, our class just wanted to tell them thank you for all they do for our community. While we were there the nice firemen let the kids go all though the fire station and huge ladder truck that was there! It was really fun and all the kids loved it!

All the kids on the fire truck...MG would not sit yet!

Look at her face...she was so scard she was going to fall.

Now, having fun!

She even got up in the drivers seat at the end and pretended to drive!

Play Date

Thursday, we had a play date with Brock and Braden! It was so much fun! We have missed those sweet boys so much since they moved away. We just love them! However, we have done a really good job of letting the kids play and staying in touch. Here are a few pictures from our day.
