Happy Halloween

What a super fun day! McKenzie's Grandma and Papa Norton spent the night last night so they were here for some of Halloween! It was really fun because Jason and I got to have a date last night! We went to eat and then went Christmas shopping for McKenzie. It was so much fun! McKenzie likes to go next door to our neighbor's house to play on their playground all the time. The slide is her favorite but it is too big for her right now. She cannot climb up to get to the top. We found this slide last night shopping and she loves it! So McKenzie was a butterfly tonight for Halloween! She loved her costume and is still Ta-Daing when she puts it on. She was a little hesitant at first but when she saw all the other kids dressed she was all about it. We only went to 5 of the houses on our street . The weather was awful tonight. We were supposed to go to church but it was 55 degrees and raining outside. McKenzie was just as happy with the 5 houses! When we got to a house, Jason or I would knock and then she would press her face on the glass and look in. When they came to the door she would smile and say please and then sign thank you and say bye bye! So precious! It was so much fun! She loved it! She did not want to hold our hands walking, she had to do it all herself. We got to one house and she did not have her bag, we had to back track and found it in a muddy puddle! She did not care, it was even more fun that it was wet! It was a great night and we all had an awesome time!

Potty Training Update:

McKenzie has been doing awesome with potty training!!! Yesterday she had one wet diaper all day, the rest was all in her little potty! Today was the same! No poo poo in the potty yet, that is still in the diaper, however, she is doing awesome with pee pee! We are so proud of how fast she is catching on to this! I hope that diapers are a thing of the past soon!

Enjoy the pictures of Halloween today that follow!

Pee Pee...

...in the POTTY!!!!!! I have been setting McKenzie on the potty every night before her bath for about two months now just to see what she would do. When we saw Amber last weekend, she gave us an extra potty that Tate could not use. So, we have a little potty downstairs and a little potty upstairs now. Since Saturday I have been setting MG on the little potty before her bath. Come to find out, Jason has been setting her on the potty with her clothes on! When I explained to him that she has to have her clothes off to learn how to use the potty, it happened. Tonight was Jason's night to bathe and for the first time he set her on the potty with nothing on....and....low and behold she peed for him! Jason was screaming for me and I came running and there she sat with her big blue eyes and her big smile! She was so proud of herself. I am not sure she really understood what she did but she was loving how Jason and I were carrying on! Now, if we can only make this a routine and a habit! I'll keep you posted! Thanks for the extra potty Auntie Amber!

Halloween Party...Preschool Style

Today was McKenzie's Preschool Halloween Party! It was so much fun! They made little place mats for the table. The place mats were one big pumpkin in the middle and then several little thumb print pumpkins. The thumb prints were in orange and then they had little stems on them. The place mat also had their picture on it and it said McKenzie's Thumbkin Patch! So sweet! The little kids had snack and played and then it was time to go home. Their room is very cute and had lots of different toys in it. McKenzie loves to go to school. Since there are only 4 in her class including her and two teachers she gets lots of attention! It was really fun for her to have me at her school. She kept looking at me like, what are you doing here?! Daddy had to work and was very sad to miss it. However, no dads came today anyway, only moms so she was not the odd ball out!

MG sportin' her Halloween hair bow from
Auntie Amber...so cute! It has a ghost she
sewed on it! She is amazing!

One more time...she loves to sit next to her pumpkin!

After her party we went to Moe's for lunch! MG loves

kids burrito!

Yum! Yum! Yummy!

Uncle Jeffrey

We are so excited to see Uncle Jeffrey! He is coming home from Africa for about 2 1/2 weeks at Christmas. He will arrive here on December 23rd! We can't wait to see him! I have created a ticker to track his coming home! He will have to go back to Africa in January to complete his term there and then should be home some time in August of 2010 for good! We know what he is doing is so very important but, we are so very excited to see him!

18 Month Check Up

Today McKenzie Grace had her 18 month check up! She is growing, growing! She now weighs 25 lbs (75%) even, is 35 inches (greater than 95%) tall, and her head circumference is 47 3/4 cm (90%)! Yes, my poor baby girl has a big head that is full of curly blond hair these days! She only had to get one shot today which was great also. The Dr.s office was out of the flu shot so we have to go back in a week to get that. However, it was so funny, when we got to the Dr. today and got called back to the little room, McKenzie immediately started to cry. It was like she just knew what was coming, and I guess she really did! She is so smart and picks up on everything! So, now we don't have to go back to the Dr. until she is 2 and no shots then!

Shoes

McKenzie loves shoes! She likes all kinds of shoes. She likes all types and colors and occasions to wear different ones. She likes to play with her shoes too! McKenzie just loves shoes! Her newest thing is taking off her shoes. We are not even down the driveway and McKenzie has bare feet! She loves to play with her feet in the car and laughs when she tickles them! It is precious! Her newest thing to do with her shoes is to take them off and put her socks inside. It is just so funny to me how she does this. We have never shown her this and we don't do this either. So, this is all on her own. It is not an uncommon thing but just funny that she started doing it. Yesterday, I had put on her shoes and she was in her playroom and came out barefoot. I assumed that her shoes were in the playroom since she had them on when she went in. I went in to look and here is what I found...

It was so sweet that I had to take a picture and share it! She had taken off her shoes and stuffed her socks inside and lined them up. Now, I promise this is not how they came off her feet...they were on the right feet! But, so sweet! She is growing up so quickly, we can't even stand it!

Pumpkin Carvin'

Yesterday after we left the pumpkin patch with Brian, Amber, and Tate we went to a local pumpkin patch and got this pumpkin! It was the perfect pumpkin to carve...and carve we did! McKenzie was a little hesitant at first but soon she wanted her hands in the guts of the pumpkin too! She even tasted it! Then when it was all finished she had to go outside in her pajamas to see the finished product all lit up! The pictures tell a much better story than I can so enjoy!

The pumpkin

The seeds...we baked them!

McKenzie...sleeves up and diggin' in!
