Thanksgiving 2010

This year we spent Thanksgiving in Young Harris with Jason's family. We went on Wednesday and came home today. We had a very nice visit. On Wednesday, Jason and I went to his grandparents house to set up their Christmas tree. It is always so much fun to watch Jason set up a tree. His eye for perfection make a Christmas tree so beautiful! It always looks so nice when we get done putting it up and his grandparents really enjoy it. We like to talk to them while we do it and learn of days past. It is really fun! Thanksgiving day was great. We had turkey and ham. Everything was delicious and there were plenty of leftovers for grazing on later! We had to get up early this morning and head for home. I had clothes to wash and we have to repack quickly, no Black Friday shopping this year.

We are so excited to leave for Walt Disney World in the morning! We are taking McKenzie for the first time. It should be awesome! McKenzie is really into stickers these days so we have bought some stickers for her to play with in hopes that it will help pass the 8 hours in the car! She is great traveler so it should be fine! I just can't wait to see her face when we finally get there! She has been asking everyday for a month if we are going today!

This is MG's new thing...every time I want to take a picture she turns her head...so Daddy decided to do it too!

All Decked Out

Well we are all decorated for Christmas! On the inside that is! We still have our pumpkins and Autumn wreath on the front door. We are going to be out of town for Thanksgiving this year and we are leaving for Disney World next Saturday. We are so excited to take McKenzie! So, we went ahead and got the house all decorated for Christmas so that we will not have to do it when we get back.

It was a good weekend to stay home and decorate. McKenzie came down with a fever last night of 102.8. Of course, on a Friday night! We went to the doctor today and she is on Amoxicillin for a double ear infection. Poor little girl! So hopefully this is her sickness for the holidays this year. It seems that she is always sick at Thanksgiving or Christmas.

McKenzie hanging ornaments on the tree!

She hung 5 on one branch...precious!

So proud of herself!

Let-It-Snow Cocoa

I came across this recipe the other day and thought I would share it! It sounds delicious for the cold days that are coming! Enjoy!

Let-It-Snow Cocoa

2 Cups of whipping cream
6 Cups of milk
1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
1 to 1 1/2 Cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Stir well to blend before serving. Makes 10 servings.
Serve with love! :)

McKenzie's Thanksgiving Feast

Today was McKenzie's Thanksgiving Feast at her school. It was truly a feast. Every child was to bring in their favorite snack. There was so much food! All the kids had made these precious Indian shirts and headdresses. They all looked adorable! McKenzie decided that she did not want to wear her headdress anymore and seemed to make it vanish. When it was time to go, her headdress was no where to be found. When I asked her where it was, she went right over to a cupboard and opened it up and there it was! She did not want to wear it so had put it up! Too funny! MG did much better at her party today! She had a great time and listened to her teachers! After snack was over the kids did a sicker activity. That was right up McKenzie's alley! She LOVES stickers! It was a really fun Thanksgiving Party!

Megan's Bake Shop

I love to watch the show Cake Boss. The cakes that Carlo's Bake Shop makes are absolutely amazing! I would LOVE to work there! Every time I watch that show I just dream of owning a bakery. So, yesterday I made a few cakes and just pretended that I was Buddy! However, it was not so easy with a two year old! Jason is teaching Financial Peace University at our church. Tonight is the last night. He always buys a cake for his last class but this time I made it. It is not as professional as store bought but here is my credit card cake!

Last night at Supper Club we celebrated Katie! She had her final presentation to graduate last Saturday and did a wonderful job! She will be graduating on December 11th with her Specialist Degree! We are so proud of her! So, I made her favorite dessert, well kind of. Pumpkin anything is Katie's favorite...so, I made her a pumpkin cheesecake! I am so excited about this cheesecake because it is the first one I have ever made that did not crack right down the middle! It was a fun night celebrating Katie!

November 12th...All Ready?

Wow! How this month is already flying by! We have been so busy but nothing real exciting! Jason was out of town all last week for work. McKenzie and I hung out at home. We stayed very busy, my cousin Brittany flew down for the weekend and I had a jewelry party. That was very fun! It was great to see Brittany! On Sunday of this week, Jason's Aunt, Tanta Nana came to visit us on her way to see her family in the mountains. She ended up staying until Tuesday which was really fun because when MG was in school on Monday we went shopping! We had a great time! Then we went to lunch! It was too much for MG after school, she was not very good! Yesterday, for Veteran's Day we had a play date with the Slocumb boys! We went to the indoor playground and the kids all had a ball. It was so fun to hang out with them! Last night we took Maggie, Jason's helper at the office, to dinner for Veteran's Day. She was in the Navy! That was really fun! Maggie is a blast! So, we have been really busy but not much to blog about! We hope you all have a great weekend! McKenzie and I are off to Madison in the morning to have her pictures taken with Santa! I am so excited because it is the most beautiful Santa! I am hoping she sits nicely on his lap this year. Time will tell. I am sure that will generate a blog post! Happy Weekend!
